Flautist

Elinor studied flute at the University of Huddersfield and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. During this time she was invited to take part in the Sir James Galway International Flute Masterclass and was one of only 20 players worldwide to be selected to be coached by Sir James Galway. Other highlights of her student years included second prize in the Albert and Buono International Flute Competition and third prize in the British Flute Society Needham Piccolo Competition. She also participated in the Stratford-on-Avon International Flute Festival, which involved recitals, competitions, community performances and coaching from top class tutors. She ultimately joined the teaching staff there working with the children’s course. Her earliest professional experiences were at the age of 16 with a flute trio, and at the same age with a festival orchestra playing Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and St. Matthew Passion.

Elinor enjoys a varied career, including recital work, chamber music and orchestral playing. Highlights of her career have included performing with Welsh Sinfonia, including taking solo work and participating in schools workshops. A highlight of her chamber music work was Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 and Suite in B minor for flute and strings in St. Edwards Church in Cardiff with Opus 8. With the same ensemble she featured as a soloist in Hasse G Major Concerto at the Ewenny Festival. She has given recitals all over the UK, most recently at the New Room, Bristol and in Cardiff.
