Pilar Vita

She holds a degree in Pharmacy as well as an MBA, and has completed postgraduate studies in Cambridge University.

Born in Granada, Pilar has had an interest in traditional flamenco music, singing and dance from an early age, taking classes and participating in amateur groups. She began playing the castanets over 30 years ago, and in 2022, continued her studies under the renowned castanet player and teacher, Teresa Laiz. The same year she joined the Madrid Castanets Choir, founded and directed by Teresa Laiz, and under her direction performed classical, Spanish and popular repertoires in, among others,  the Teatro Flamenco in Madrid, The Royal Monastery of Santa María de El Paular in Madrid, Church of San Ildefonso in Madrid, St. Michael's Church in Brihuega in Guadalajara, and Teatro Lara and Teatro Reina Victoria in Madrid, the last two within the framework of the IX and X International Castanets Festival.

Pilar continues to expand her flamenco knowledge, and is currently enrolled in the course Flamenco Vivo, a deep journey through theory and praxis, taught by the Flamencology Department at the University of Cordoba, Spain.

Pilar is a student member of the International Dance Council CID – UNESCO.

She is a member of the Castanet Choir of Madrid, directed by Teresa Laiz.
