Samuel Doescher Rhoades is 16 years of age and a high school sophomore at Casady School in Oklahoma City, OK. He has avidly studied music and piano since the age of ten at the Oklahoma Conservatory of Music in Oklahoma City, and has been instructed by RuiRui Johnson since the age of twelve. Showing rapid growth in performance skills, Samuel placed third at the South Kansa Symphony Concerto Competitions at age fourteen. Samuel recently placed second at the 2022 Oklahoma Music Teachers Association/Music Teacher National Association Collegiate Competition piano division. He was accepted to the Interlochen Arts Camp in 2022, with Merit consideration, and selected for the final showcase. He will attend again in 2023. In addition to his passion for piano studies, Samuel is an honors student who loves competitive cross country and track, and has been elected to the 2023-2024 Casady Student Council. He plans to pursue higher education at a music conservatory. Samuel will perform Sergei Prokofiev’s “Suggestion Diabolique”, a piece he enjoys playing for its rhythmic drive and sharp dissonance.
